Chris Carter

Chris has worked full time as a potter since 1971.  Since then he has exhibited in leading galleries throughout the UK and also internationally. Work held in public collections include the Ashmolean, Oxford, Birmingham Art Gallery, The Walker Gallery, Liverpool and The Sainsbury Collection, Norwich. His work is featured in Modern Pots, Hans Coper, Lucy Rie and their Contemporaries, Thames and Hudson. His pots have also been sold by leading auction houses including Bonhams, London for many years.

Chris has permanently stocked our gallery with work for over thirty years. He has also exhibited numerous times in our group shows. In 2016 we were very proud to host his 70th Birthday Retrospective Exhibition which sold work from the late 1970s onwards. These pieces had been put to one side by Chris over many years. In 2020 a single pot made £2,400 (plus commission) at auction which to date is the highest auction price paid so far for a single piece made by Chris.
