A hand built decorative/ sculptural sagger fired erosion vessel. This piece has been fired in a closed container called a saggar, which was filled with charcoal, peat and other combustible materials. This produces an oxygen starved atmosphere during the firing and impregnates the clay body with the characteristic black which enhances the surface textures. The vessel has been decorated with a matt  black pewter glaze inside which brings an additional ancient look to the piece. This feeling is further enhanced by the torn/carved rim.  Patricia has work in the V&A London.
