Oh the face on this angel!
A  reclining angel. The shorter sides of the lower section run at an oblique angle in relation to both the front and back of the lidded casket. Sgraffito marks have been made to decorate this piece. Dry brushed slips have been used to highlight these marks.  A maker's mark (M) is sprigged and positioned mid way on the rear near to the base.
