A strap handled stoneware vessel with lugs. This piece dates to the early 1980s and shows signs that is has been hand built rather than thrown and slightly altered. Ceramic lugs are positioned either side of the clay handle. The inside of the vessel and handle has been decorated using a tenmoku glaze. The exterior has been decorated using a combination of cut paper resist and brushed on coloured slips and glazes. A makers mark (MALTBY) has been painted underneath using an iron oxide. It still has the original exhibition number 84 and a title FLOWERS AND ROCKS written on masking tape and stuck underneath. Please contact the gallery for further details.
