A porcelain narrow necked bottle. The pot has been gently beaten to a slightly flattened surface on both the front and back during the making process in preparation for the cobalt brush decoration. It is glazed using a pale Celadon and has the characteristic Clarkson brush decorated motifs (on both the front and back) with highlights of Tenmoku and burnishing gold. A makers stamp DC has been impressed into the clay at the base together with his personal date date stamp for 1998. Work made by Derek can be found in the V&A London.
