A hand built slab vessel with gold leaf. This piece has been muti-fired to build up layers of stained porcelain slips. The exterior surface is carved very lightly at the leather hard stage to begin the process of building up the textural layers. The surface is gently smoothed using wet and dry sheets after the biscuit firings before it is finally fired to a mid-range stoneware. The gold leaf is applied after the final firing. A range of other pieces are in stock and are also available from THE PYRAMID GALLERY, YORK and MONTPELLIER GALLERY, STRATFORD UPON AVON. Philip sells the majoity of his work directly from our gallery and via leading auction houses. Please contact us for further details.
