This piece is a thrown porcelain vessel which has been hand engraved with linear marks which radiate out from a vertical spinal column on either side of the pot. A pale high fired celadon glaze has been used to decorate the inside of the piece. The exterior remains unglazed and polished to create a silky surface. The porcelain is translucent when held to the light. The base of the pot is also carved to meet up with the engraving on the other side. A makers mark GW is situated on the base between the foot of the piece. The completed pot is an exquisite example of controlled craftsmanship. Grainne lives and works in Northern Ireland and exhibits widely throughout the British Isles including selling work through leading auction houses. Postage is free within the UK only.
